The control system. Rather than dials and push buttons, many have touch screens. The cleaning system. Some still have full-scale cleaning systems. Others have a steam cleaning systems which isn't the same thing and, from what I understand, doesn't work as well. Some are freestanding models that mimic the appearance of slide-in versions. Not sure how long these have been around but I don't rememebr seeing them back in the late 2000s when I was looking at ranges.

We got a new GE Profile (Haier ?!!!) range a couple of weeks ago. The Wifi was a bit of a surprise, and actually having alerts on my phone (and watch !) that the oven had reached temperature, and being able to shut it off from anywhere is kind of useful. Like.. did I leave the oven on ?

As far as cooking, the "Air Fryer" setting has been pretty useful. Basically convection oven but the fan runs faster. Made awesome wings and toasted ravioli.

We also got the two door model, which is really useful. Essentially two separate ovens.

Insulation is better. Controls are touch panel of course, but so was our 25 year old Profile.

I had that on my OLD oven - I guess it was fancy for the time.
