Any Global Entry holders - some basic questions

The wife and I submitted our applications for Global Entry recently. How long before you received preliminary approval and could schedule the in-person interview?

What can we expect at the interview?

.....there is a backlog.....I know a few people who renewed and are still waiting for appointment.....not sure if the backlog has eased yet........the same goes for passport renewals (huge backlog)......

.....people are flying to Texas (or other passport centers) if they are able to snag an appointment.....just to have it done quickly......

.....I don't recall any real questions, they just verified info.....it was actually very quick....the interview itself (you have to wait on cue the day of appointment)......

If I remember correctly, it was a month or two. But that was in pre-covid times.

>What can we expect at the interview?

For us, they just verified the basics of our claims. It was pretty easy, I don't really remember it. Then again, we went to one of the smaller locations.

My daughter said the interview was nothing much at all, as others have said.
She did hers pre-Covid, so I have no idea of the wait time.

Interview was a joke. They asked what countries I travel to, which were all noted by looking thru the stamps in my passport. After I rattled off 15 or so, the guy asked if there were any more. Told him a few. He told me he was done.

The hardest part was finding the office for the interview…

The delays were up to six months, and that was before COVID.

Interview was a joke.

Me too, but for a different reason.

Eye color? Brown.

‘K. Hair color? Brown.

Realllly? That’s your answer?

uhh, I mean it used to be brown…about 20 years ago. Better make that “grey”.

that must be why the form asked if we were traveling in the next six months.

Just an FYI. One reason for the in person interview is that if they catch you lying at some point, you have lied to a Federal officer, and that's a 5 year felony. Same with lying on the application. So, if you did both for some illegal purpose, that's 10 years worth of federal charges.

I applied about 10 days ago before leaving for Korea. Got the preliminary approval the next day.

About an hour ago I landed in Atlanta and took the interview here at the airport. Like he said above, a joke.

I should get the card in the mail in 2-6 weeks. It does include TSA trusted traveler program (precheck?). The officer was not sure what TSA does.

We did it just for the trusted traveler functions.

In addition, DO NOT BRING BACK ANY FRUIT etc. You are expected to know ALL the rules etc.

Woke this morning to an email that our applications were approved and to schedule the interviews. I immediately did so, the earliest openings were at Sanford-Orlando on December 31st (Tampa was in February, and Orlando International in late January).

It took several decades, but here in Cali, the DMV *finally* added "Hazel" as a choice for eye color.....

I always get a chuckle when the fill out forms are missing answers that apply to big chunks of their intended audience.
