MACBOOK AIR (13-INCH, 2017), should I extend AppleCare on an annual basis?

Purchased Nov 2018, AppleCare expires in about 4 weeks. I used it once to repair a bad video cable, and now I just dropped it off at the Apple store for a battery replacement. The Genius told me that I should receive an email soon with an offer to extend AppleCare. Or that I could call and ask for this.

I am tempted. I think I would probably extent it for another 2-3 years, at which point I will replace the machine. A new battery is 129, and any other repair is probably 200+. This is a Core i7 - 8GB Memory - 512GB SSD model, I think the base model back then was i5, probably 4 GB and definitely below 512.

Depends on price to extend.

No, statistically it’s the wrong choice.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

I extended Apple Care on this 2018 13" MBP quad i7. I think it was the wrong decision as even the lowest M1 MBA is likely far faster AND has longer battery life.

You can extend it by going to mysupport.apple.com if you end up doing so. No need to call AppleCare.

Just FYI, the extensions are on an annual basis, but I don't know that I would bother with an Air. I did on my 2018 15" MBP, but that one has the 4TB SSD in it.

I did that for my 2017 imac for $59 - not sure I'd do it for an MBA at $89.

Interesting. I did not know you could extend AppleCare. Have they always done that or is it something new?

It’s relatively new, as in the last year or so.
