Most idiotic MBP review I've read

This guy's MBP review on ZDNet just shows he should be using a Dell.

While the Apple salesperson sounds like a pompous ass, I wonder if he was just responding to an idiot customer. A few shared insights from his inciteful review --

I took one look at the big event and was disheartened by what seemed like the old MacBook Pro, injected with spectacular new innards.

That's enough for many. But I need a different sort of joy. Spiritual, not just spec-ful. Visual and sensual, not just ritual and factual.

"It's really heavy," I continued.

"Apple's decided to emphasize the Pro in the Pros," he countered. "This really is for professionals. I mean, you can't run a business on an Air, can you?"

I've used an Air for a long time now. I've switched whenever there's been a new one, though I avoided the M1 Air because it looked the same

Of course many will love this laptop. If, that is, the speed promises materialize and if the notch doesn't mess with too many apps.

So he doesn't care about performance as long as the MBP in lightweight, looks different than any laptop on the market, and comes in different colors. Maybe he should look for a clamshell iBook

That really is stunningly superficial and dumb.

According to a review I watched from snazzy labs, the notch sort of works and it sort of doesn't. Which I suppose is the apps fault mostly. Some acknowledge its existence. Some do not. Plus it plays havoc when you have many system icons at the top vs many app icons.

Was this written by Jonny Ive?

The Apple section of Steam hasn't gotten many new high end titles in a year. The new M1 Max might change that. Time will tell.

Except the pointless Notch and sacrificing a Thundercrap port for a four year old HDMI port, I like just about everything on the new model.

I view it like this- coming from a mid-2015 MBP which was the last to have MagSafe, HDMI and SD card reader, and NO touch bar; the new MBPs are not significantly larger or heavier but instead offer a ton more power, and USB-C ports over the older TB-2 and USB-A style ones. Only thing missing is the RJ-45, but nearly any USB-C dock or hub will have that.
