I used to pick the Christmas themed music from the station library for backgrounds for ads in early to mid-August.

'Jack Frost nipping at your heating bills.'
'Santa drives an Oldsmobile.'

Selling people dreams is a lot easier with sleigh bells in the background. It goes right back to their infancy.

All of you that hate on early Christmas music will love it when people start playing it it in October.
It’s going to happen.

Embrace it, love it.

I was in Lowe’s about a month ago and they already had piles of Xmas merchandise stacked up behind the Halloween stock. It just struck me as such a cold-blooded approach to the holidays. My wife and I have increasingly turned to making donations to charities in name of those we used to give gifts to in the past.

Bah, Humbug I say!

As far as I'm concerned, public broadcasters should NOT be allowed to play Christmas music until AFTER Thanksgiving. Even then, Four weeks before Christmas, only every fourth tune could be a Christmas tune. Three weeks before, every third tune, two weeks before, every second tune and in the final week, every tune. AFTER Christmas, broadcasters can go back to "regular" programming. For people who LOVE "all XMAX, all the time" they can have that on their own devices and leave the rest of the population in peace, NOT be subjected to SO much annoying music. old fogey smiley

Christmas music is fine starting the week of Thanksgiving. I don't usually start listening until well after the Advent Calendar is in effect (first Sunday after T-day). Plenty of Yule Log videos ( https: //blog.frontier.com/2019/11/yule-log-videos-for-winter-bliss/, Joe Pesci “Home Alone” Yule Log is pretty funny ), Linus Tech Tips has an 8K version with just the crackling fire, no music.

Everyone complaining about this, and I started playing this today.

(I'm just kidding; I really didn't. You don't even cue this up until Twelfth Night.)

Try tuning in a different station.

I have no desire to hear it outside a 30 day window, but this is America, and people are free to play/listen to whatever they want 24/7.

Store shelves emptied of candy on Oct 31. Refilled aisles with Christmas candy on Nov.1

Good grief. But the way supplies are constrained right now, maybe it's worth buying a few cartons - for a friend…

It's one of the reasons I hate setting foot in stores this time of year. There's Xmess music that I like, but none of that is ever played in stores.
