Yes they work.
Let's say you get mud on your shoes. Do you get them cleaner with a dry paper towel, or a hose?
My advice is, spend the money and get a nice bidet. My BioBidet has a heated seat, heated water, heated air dryer, and can be aimed. It came with the house, but I'd buy it again.

I just don't get how it saves TP. My mom was the type who would clean the house before the cleaning lady came. Genetically I think I'd be applying the same principal to this, umm, situation. Thus it seems more time consuming.

Was this an add-on or a whole unit?

Are the cheaper $20-35 ones adequate?

I’m guessing that the “hairier” the “hole” the more “Klingons” you’ll have to remove manually.

An add on. BioBidet BB-1700. Looks like they’re all on sale right now. I may pick up another for another bathroom.

What Paul F said. I installed a bidet attachment in our winter place. It works well enough that I installed 2 more in our primary home. All 3 are cold water only, and there is no discomfort as the water is not that cold. As others point out, there is a significant savings on toilet paper, which is what made me decide to try them in the first place.

This is my worry. I finally had the opportunity to try one at a friends house in the SoCal desert and it worked great. But in the winter time, our tap water can come out at about 40-50 degrees, which might not be that pleasant. Getting hot water plumbed to the loo room wouldn't necessarily help as it sometimes takes 30 seconds for hot water to reach the upstairs.
I guess I just need to "give it a go" and see how it works out in our colder environs.

Most of the heated water bidets heat the water and don't tap into a hot water line. Just one of the reasons for needing to be plugged in.

After seeing this thread, I noticed that Costco had the Toto washlet bidets in store for $319. I have no idea if that is a good price, as I have never researched them, but thought I would mention it, if anyone is interested.

Depends which model. We have the C200 which retails for about $430. They are often available on sale so I would not suggest paying retail.

If I open my bidet valve "full bore", it'll strip the paint right off my nethers... Half way is more than enough to remove all traces of Klingons.
And regarding the water temp; I thought that was going to be an issue, but, turns out that after a little while in my water pipes in the house, it takes enough chill off the water that it's not uncomfortable unless I leave it run a long while and the "cold stuff" from further out.
When I renovate the kitchen, I'm going to have an outlet put in the bathroom (other side of one of the kitchen walls) so I can upgrade to one of the nicer heated models with a joystick for aiming, and a "massage mode"...

My water is COLD. But my reasoning is also to stop using as much TP.

Looks like it is this one. “TOTO WASHLET T1SW2024”
It may be a special only to Costco model.
