iPhone 13 owner? Take care of that new toy!

Repairing that screen? Apple has now locked down such repairs. Going to a 3rd party likely means no more working faceID.

My take: Apple is going to triple-down on fighting repairability. Apple continues to evolve with the model that we 'rent' iPhones, and Big Apple Brother makes all decisions on what can be done with hardware and software.

I have an iPhone12 model - so I will be giving it a little more TLC...

Until they get sued.... again.

And they should be.

What does the screen have to do with Face ID? Is there a chip built into it that stores the data?

Apple built a chip into the iPhone 13 screens to force this issue. The article I linked to goes into it.

Part of me thinks they don't care about getting sued. If the profit is greater than the penalty, it's a win.

That fµ©¥ing sucks.

Especially if that chip adds no functionality, and just prevents 3rd party repairs.

More important than FaceID imo, when having a 3rd party repair iPhone screens, the water resistance is gone. LOCKDOWN RAGE!

Why would that be the case? Resistance is due to a proper seal, right?

That's almost as bad as John Deere.
Son's smallest cab tractor a 65hp JD had thrown a couple errors and they had to use a laptop to diagnose.

John Deere Just Swindled Farmers out of Their Right to Repair.
The California Farm Bureau has given away the right of farmers to fix their equipment without going through a dealer.
