Camel implies they $73 back in July. I have not heard cheap Sony speakers that impressed me much.

Sony tends to make bright and lacking bottom everything for ones ears, to me. YMMD.
Also, these are not powered speakers. You would need an amp and prolly pre-amp.
For my $, lying in bed ready for the nod, Anker or other BT speakers, provided you have a BT source to play from, a phone or ...

For the price of Sonys, you can find Polks on sale during the holidays.
Just don't limit your search to bezosville.
Lots of older R15 & T15 pairs for sale on eBay too!

bezosville has small Theater Solutions TS30B w/ swivel mounts for <$30

Need powered speakers? bezosville has Amazon Basics F720US (pair)
for < $25 (even cheaper via Amz Warehouse as "used")

I’m using an older basic stereo receiver, so I don’t want powered speakers. There is nothing computer-related about the setup like Bluetooth.

then I'd go with the suggested Polks. A little boomy, but not harsh like the Sonys tend to be.

I'd say those are fine if you have an amp already.

Might I suggest a BT connection for the amp? Many brands out there, this is just an example.

I listened to a paired set of HomePods Mini the other day. I am amazed how good small speakers sound nowadays, at moderate volumes.

Thanks for the Bluetooth suggestion, Rolando. That will help things. I said I didn’t want Bluetooth, but that meant I didn’t want a system built around Bluetooth.

Now I am wondering about full range speakers on boards from Parts Express.

If space is not an issue, maybe a soundbar? Here's a one with good reviews on sale from monoprice:

That 1Mii B06 Plus Bluetooth Receiver you linked to looks identical to the
Etekcity UNIFY Bluetooth Receiver (NFC-Enabled) I bought on sale from
bezosville 3 years ago for $18.
It's NLA but it has been highly reliable & puts out good sound via BT.
Got it originally for my old, now replaced Yamaha recvr. but I switched it
to my Tivoli (stereo) Mdl. 10, good sound continues! (btw, it's tiny)

I don’t see where it would connect to the receiver RCA connections.

you'd need a dual RCA to 3.5mm stereo plug

assuming your older rcvr doesn't have an optical out port?

If you can find a decent pair of cast alloy Radio Shack Optimus on ebay/CL, etc., they're incredible....

Plenty of viable wall mounts available if you can't score OEM RS Optimus mounts.

Based on all the YouTube reviews of this speaker, I doubt you could do better for the money. Given your intended use, I’d jump on these at the $88 price.

Kinda crazy how Optimus speakers generally did not suck. I bought Optimus Subwoofer/Satelitte System to replace my Technics tower speakers. They were on close out, so I bought an extra set satellites and left them in the box. I eventually replaced the Technics amp and Optimus speakers with a 5.1 system. around 2015 my son goes off to college, and tells me he wants a stereo system. So I give him my old one, but one of the satellites had broken, so broke out the extra box!

He's graduated and moved twice, and still using the speakers, with a new amp!

I've got 2 pairs of Minimus 7 speakers. One pair is still in use as my surround speakers. Decent sound, especially for the price.

I had a pair of Minimus 7s in my car in 1986. The speakers and amp were stolen out of the car in a poorly locked garage. sad smiley

I was never a fan of Japanese speaker sound profiles. Pioneer, Technics, Sony, etc., did not please my ears, as Fritz said, they end to sound bright. I haven't lately been in need of bookshelf speakers, but I was always a fan of Boston Acoustics and Polk bookshelf speakers. They had a pleasant warm, balanced sound with really good imaging. The Boston Acoustics A40's and Polk Audio Monitor 4's were the two that I really liked.
