That's a really good price for that.
I have a couple of the little tiny ones and some of the shallow square ones and they are great for all sorts of stuff.

I only found the little ones useful for things like fry sauce et al .

I've had that same set with red lids for close to 10 years. Use them regularly and they are still in great shape. Use them for storage only. Never put in the microwave or dishwasher.

Are they not microwave safe?

They are considered microwave and dishwasher safe. I only microwave in glass containers.

I have used mine in the micro a lot.
I used to use them for my steel cut oatmeal and would heat up in these, after storing in the fridge.

I've been getting tons of emails from Pyrex, but I've heard somewhere that their stuff is no longer thermal-shock resistant.

That may or may not be true, but I've seen several reviews complaining of failure (severe cracking and breaking) in ovens.

Corning sold their consumer line Pyrex glassware years ago. It is no longer made with Borosilicate glass. It is now made with tempered glass. Tempered glass will shatter if you cool it too rapidly. No more oven to freezer. If you have any old Pyrex, hold on to it.

Why would anyone ever want to move something directly from the oven to the freezer?

Not saying you would, but with the original Pyrex you could. With the tempered glass Pyrex, you risk shattering if you take it from the oven and put it on a cold surface. I was just saying that to make a point. You could take original pyrex made before 1998 directly from the freezer into the oven. New Pyrex needs to warm up even from the fridge before putting it in a hot oven.

If it's cold it will shatter in the sink with hot water .

Ok, that's disappointing, but I can deal with that.

I have a little old Pyrex, but I've never tested for thermal shock in either direction.

My only use cases involve from 'fridge to oven so I'll keep the interim warming step in mind.

If it's cold it will shatter in the sink with hot water .

That will never be an issue, but good to know anyway.

Thanks -- in for two of these (I just got a shipping confirmation) ... at that price, even if the lids don't fit well as some of the reviews claim, it's still quite a deal.

Many of the ones I have now have the dreaded tomato stains, which haven't come out even with vinegar or putting them in sunlight as some people have said works to get the stains out.

How about adding a little hydrogen peroxide to your water?

This has worked wonders for me in getting deep coffee stains off of my gold coffee filter.

Interesting; I can try that, I have plenty on tap.
