Fan control app?

I use a program called "Macs fan control" to increase fan speed on my old 2010 MacBook Pro, because it gets too hot, and my wife has been having trouble with overheating in her MacBook (not sure year, but newer). I'm not entirely happy with the app I'm using. Do you guys have a go to?

SMC fan control is the big one.

I has having the same issue with our 2012 MBPs, only way I could fix it was with M1 MBAs. Have never heard a fan since ;). Kinda pricy at $850 tho....

Open up the unibody and blow it out. It's easy.

Yep & at 11 years old I'd check the CPU and bridge chipset heatsinks too.

Oh, yeah, I replaced the hard drive and blew out the cobwebs, etc., and it actually wasn't real dirty. It just doesn't keep up when there's a sustained load. I mean, evidently it thinks 80C degrees is fine, but it's not, so I turned up the fans, and no prob, I'm at 40-50 degrees all the time. I blew out my wife's too, but without taking it apart, so I think it's ok. It's not that old. I want to try the fan because it's really hot to the touch and misbehaving. IT has tried lots of things, but not this, so I think it's worth a try. There's a reason (beyond $) Apple is moving away from Intel. Heat management is difficult.

Thanks for the rec of SMC fan control. I'll give that a try.
