woo hoo new - Trackpad 2 in the house

well used, but in great shape. $65 Magic Trackpad 2 to go with my new (to me) MM8,1 i7/64G/512G.
The Magic Mouse was driving me nuts.
And Owen much prefers this, to f'k me up while working, to the MM2.

nice. welcome to the club! I switched to get rid of carpal tunnel.

Wish I could understand MM users, cause ergonomically it looks awful. even with my small hands it always felt weird. ;)

I'm pretty used to TPs from my MBA.
And this thing has more surface which is better for my gorilla paws.

I don't love them, but apple's trackpads are the only pointing devices that don't eventually lead to some kind of repetitious motion pain thingy.

I use Apple trackpads and a Magic 2 trackpad and like them well enough, but I have two first world complaints.

First, the capacitance sensitivity is a little high for my taste, as they often complete a command even though my finger(s) never touched the 'pad – annoying.

A company makes skins for the various Magic Trackpads and something like that might alleviate the problem.

Second, even though I've checked Enable Dragging without drag lock all pads will occasionally exhibit with drag lock functionality for one subsequent movement.

It's random and infrequent, and highly annoying, and as such is near impossible for me to find a cure.

I need to replace my second Magic Trackpad 1. I dropped it and now it has multiple cracks in it, it still works though. I'm so used to using them with my MBA just don't think I could use a mouse with it again.

harumph! more things to mess with.
I feel so out of date coming from HS to BS.
It's like relearning the OS again.

I just switched off Prefs/Trackpad/Tap to click and that seems to have helped.
Time will tell.

On occasion, I resort to using a mouse because for very fine work, a trackpad doesn't cut it.

This isn't an issue for me when using a 'Book, because that level of accuracy isn't ever needed.

I really would like to find a good quality wireless/BT trackball.

That for most use, along with a Trackpad for gestures, would be the ideal setup for me.

Unfortunately, Kensington, my former GoTo for trackballs, has thrown in the towel as far as making a decent product with good software is concerned.

They aren't even trying these days.

Or for the last several years.

Besides reducing Kensington Mouseworks to some basic stripped-down app, they can't make a decent scroll function.

Other trackball manufacturers don't do much better (no better where scrolling is concerned) and all use a smallish ball which never had the performance of a good Kensington trackball.

On occasion, I've thought about doing the same, but that's the first thing I enable on a new Mac.

Granted, using it means a double-tap where Click-Hold-Drag is actually smoother and a little faster, but even with the Trackpad set on the 1st (lightest) setting, clicking gets a little old.
