(10:46:42 PM) Fritz: why does it need internet to motion detect? Makes no sense. 2 different entities and functions.
(10:48:24 PM) Raquelyn: Because the v3 camera is meant to work with an internet connection.
(10:48:39 PM) Raquelyn: That is why it is needed an internet connection
(10:49:52 PM) Fritz: uh huh. Thanks the same.
That right there is an example of a circuitous non-adaptive response.

gotta love off shore support ...

Wyze is an IoT device.

Internet of Things.

It does not work without internet. that's how they push motion detection notifications to your iPhone. From the cloud. It needs to send a command to the cloud, and the cloud pings your phone.

Did I do better than their customer support?

And perhaps Google is better as well (plus a little previous knowledge):
[support.wyze.com]-

It sounds like motion detection is run on their servers, not the camera, so the camera needs to be internet connected in order to process motion detection.

yes, you both have it right.
silly to have motion detect from the IoT instead or just the camera.
but ...

Fritz,

That explanation is very close to the run-around I got from Wyze when I asked several specific questions.

I'm getting rid of my several Wyze cameras because of inferior performance and pi$$ poor support.

I think I will just put an OUT OF ORDER
sticker on my head and call it a day.

Already did. Down to one on my 3d printer. Not sure what to do with all the ones that have been decommissioned.
