What do you think of this Ring Alarm Package?

I’ve been thinking about installing a home alarm system for some time. I noticed this Ring system at Costco today:

It has a base panel, 1 motion detector, 6 door/window contacts and a range extender. Product description does not list an alarm, but I think the pictures show one. I would like to add 1 or 2 doorbell cameras. I assume the Ring app would be able to push alerts to my iPhone.

I’m completely new to this tech, so I thought I’d ask for help from those who are more familiar. Does this Ring package seem like a good base system to begin with or would recommend a different approach?

great system. bought mine last year. professional monitoring of all your ring devices and cloud storage for any added cams is $100 a year though i think it's going up a bit soon. total control and notifications through the app on your phone.

buy it.

I'm happy with ring for video security and wouldn't hesitate to add sensors if we needed them.

The alarm is built into the base system and the keypad. It's 104 db.

We bought a basic system and then enough extra sensors to cover all the windows that are accessible from the ground. We sold the motion detector because I'd rather have an alarm when a window/door is opened rather than waiting for somebody to come inside and trigger the motion detector. Also, we have an indoor cat; they say their system will exclude small animals from triggering the motion detector but I didn't want to take that chance. Overall we like the system a lot.

so far my 22 lb puppy hasn't set off the motion detector.

I stand by my post in the link Jamie gave. It's been excellent. graylocks is correct that the price might be going up for monitoring soon, but ... those of us who are already subscribed might be grandfathered into a plan for the same price.

I just checked. The new plan is Ring Protect Pro and it's $200 a year. Those of us who had the monitoring plan before 9/28/2021 are grandfathered in for the $100 a year price until 2025.

Yup, that's what I had recalled that they'd be doing too. Sometimes there are advantages to being grandfathered/grandmothered. old fogey smiley

Oh, and speaking of Ring, anybody know if there are likely to be any decent BF deals on the cameras? So far what I've been seeing on Amazon is underwhelming. I may want to get another Spotlight Cam Solar with a mounting arm for the alleyway between myself and my next-door neighbor, where we've sometimes seen some suspicious characters go.
