Actually, turkeys are very strong fliers and can escape most enemies although they prefer to run away. While funny, that episode was based on a fallacy. Sorry, just felt pedantic there for a moment.

Ben Franklin wanting the turkey to be the official symbol of the infant United States is a myth, too. Oops-did it again...

Years ago the British were testing an airplane windshield against birds flying into it. They were going to shoot a dead turkey from a cannon at it. Except they used a frozen turkey.
