Ok, tonight, while getting ready to heat up a snack in my toaster oven, I discovered a breakfast burrito that I got at the Safeway 'deli' the morning before, approximately 35hrs ago.

It contained precooked sausage, egg, tomato, onion, potatoes, and ranch dressing.

The ambient indoor temperature was probably 67º.

Is this safe to eat?

I know the consensus to toss it on GP, but if it's safe...

Even if it is technically "safe", a day and a half of sitting out won't have done any favors for any of the ingredients individually and especially not for the burrito as a whole. In a zombie apocalypse or similar situation where you don't know when your next meal will be, go for it and be thankful, but absent such dire circumstances I'd say chuck it and go get another fresh one from Safeway.

I did toss it, and as mad as I was at myself for forgetting, as penance, I did go get another one, and it was wonderful.

Paul, you have no idea how much I beat myself up over that very thought.

In my defence (lol) I was putting away groceries and had intended to warm it, as it had cooled a little on the trip home.

But the fact remained I forgot, and that really chapped my hide.

I considered eating it and accepting any consequences as punishment for such an unforgivable act.

But — I tossed it, got another one and all was right with the world.

Next time I have provisions to stash, I'll tell Alexa to remind me about the burrito.
