as the house ages and the various bits and pieces, as well as me ....

Heat-Flo 40g installed in 2013.
Failed and replaced with the same 2015.

The pressure relief valve is dripping off a fair quantity enough to have water on the basement floor. It has no expansion tank nor pipe to sump pump, even though the same contractor piped and expansioned (yes, I know, not a word) the heating system.

In July, the local water authority replaced the meter vault in the road for our house. When they turned the water back on, somehow a gate valve that led to the outside hose bib, failed. I replaced with a compression 1/4t. Good.

Could that have done more damage?
I see now the heating system (2013 Slant Fin Bobcat) is dripping off to.
The sump pump is working a bit.

Should I drain off some water from the Heat-Flo to see if that reliefs the issue?

The Heat-Flo rep has been good about getting back to me, but he seems to skirt the issue or I'm not making myself clear.

I wonder if you have a general high water pressure issue for the whole house possibly related to the work the water authority did and the relief valve is actually doing what it's supposed to do.

Do you have a pressure reducing/regulating valve on your incoming water supply line?

Do you have any way to check the water pressure?

Unfortunately, no. But it doesn't "appear" to be any more than it was.

The ones that I've seen have this bell shaped look, and are usually somewhere near where the main water line enters the house, maybe on the outside, or just on the inside.

nope. definitely not. unless, as I said, it's in the vault, though that would kind of dumb.
