Safari issue with website . . .

I had no problem with this one website. Then, a few days later, my login wouldn't work - said couldn't find, etc. Deleting cookies, etc, made no difference. FireFox worked fine.

One of the suggestions they sent back was to try it with "private browsing". It worked!

So, what would all of a sudden prevent me from logging into this one site unless I was using "private browsing" mode?

Is there something I should delete or fix on my end?

Thanks!

Try "Empty Cache" from
Safari's Develop Menu

I don’t have an answer, but I had a similar issue that affected Firefox, Chromium, and Safari: I was trying or order upgrades from DxO, and kept getting an error message that my account access was blocked. Tech support suggested trying to log in via a private window, and that worked.

Didn't have any effect. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

It does seem like some bit of corruption, as every other site has no problem.

Would it have something to do with my IP address, since the "private browsing" window would mask it?

Odd that Firefox works but Safari doesn’t if your IP

If we knew why Safari's version of Private Browsing worked, that might help answer your question.

In my case, I have trouble accessing some sites because this version of Safari, 12.1.2, is just too old to handle some of the more modern sites.

Some won't load if the ad blockers are running, but that's a different deal.

All my other Macs are High Sierra or newer, and they handle the same and all sites with aplomb.

But I'll try Private Browsing the next time Safari stumbles.

This Mac is on Mojave. As soon as I upgraded, a number of sites that were an issue for High Sierra worked.

It’s just weird, as it’s so isolated.

I wrote back and told them it worked in private, but haven’t heard back.
