RAMd®d touched this topic back in SEPT:

Looking at the Apple Support for Privacy Settings for Mail...

...I have a few questions:

(1) With respect to the hiding IP feature, is this specific beginning with iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and Monterey? It appears that earlier versions of those OS's do not have the feature?

(2) If I have mixed bag of devices with different OS's that receive email on (mine are iPhone iOS 15, iPad iOS 12, MacBook Air Big Sur, Mac mini Catalina), I am guessing that the hiding IP feature is somewhat defeated if selected only on the iOS 15 device? I would imagine if that feature is desired that it be enabled on all devices?

(3) Is the hiding IP feature applicable to any email service being viewed in the

(4) Thoughts about the hiding IP feature?

All Wags here:

1) Yes, and no, respectively.

2) I don't know that hiding one's IP is the same as hiding one's email by Apple's providing proxy email addresses.

Accidentally responding to a forwarded email from a device that doesn't support Hidden Email Addressing or whatever Apple calls it, might be the equivalent of shouting 'Nobody in here but us chickens!'

But using the proxy email address from an iOS device on another device should keep the circle unbroken, I would think.

I really like having an individual email address that I can turn off for various companies.

I'm still unclear as to the hidden IP thing.

Surfing a site on a non-supported device that you've previously hidden from would seem to be counterintuitive.

But again, I'm pretty much WAGing.
