Internal modem - nothing wrong with the router - all the other computers in the house stay connected just fine - I can connect teathered through my iPhone. Connection seems unstable - will connect and I can be online for a minute or two and then it drops. Any ideas? I have restarted several times.

Yeah, I'm a little confused... Computers haven't had Modems since the late Jurassic period.
WiFi?

If it's WiFi, try rebooting into Safe Boot, then rebooting normally. and see if that clears it up.

Assuming that you're experiencing this in line of sight with the router, 1st line of attack is this: Zap PRAM.

Sorry - old brain here - yes wifi - seems like it has "healed itself" as it isn't cutting out any more.
