At $31.71 price point, they are a bit more than other masks but there is less uncertainty on if they are fake N95 masks. These are NIOSH approved masks.

25 Single Use N95 per Box

What constitutes a single use?

One day? Or maybe (if you're careful) used occasionally over a few days?

I have no idea. I use mine for about 2 weeks around various people of uncertain vaccination status indoors on a regular basis. I also put a cloth mask on top as more of a coarse particulate filter.

They arent over the ear, if that matters.

Technically for these masks to be effective as they state, they need to be fitted.

From long ago, I read that most of these masks are at the "effective rate" for 8 hours of continued use.

These seem like overkill for casual use, or use in a low % environment.

apropos of my other post on the straps of masks, these would be a bit more difficult to reattach if they broke, as the 3M I mention have a staple connection and, in theory at least, can be re-stapled. These, you would have to break out the hot glue gun to fix, and I have done that for some masks.

I have read several places that it’s best to rotate masks so they have a chance to fully dry out between uses.

I agree.

I think the single use categorization is just stander for this all-cloth type of mask, before filtering for COVID was a deal, and masks were cheap and plentiful.

Under those conditions, single use was economical for the user and profitable for the seller.

Additionally, there may have been the assumption of wear and tear which would compromise integrity and effectiveness.

But these are not those times.

I got two boxes of the IFM masks last time pRICE mentioned them, and they were $20 a box then.

As it is, I have a whole collection of various masks from various surgical types, cloth masks, and N95 masks.

Two boxes of N95s are on the way and I don't even remember what brand.

N95 certification levels are based on an assumed 8 hour workday wearing the mask for protection from airborne particulates generated in an industrial or medical environment. The mask if fitted properly can be assumed to keep 95% of the particles in the tested size range out over that period. A single use is an 8-hour workday. If you only wear a mask for 1/2 hour each day then you would have a minimum of 16 days of use assuming that you store it properly. Also, since you are apt to be primarily wearing it when you are not doing physical work in a particulate-rich environment, then you can expect that the mask would remain effective for much longer. So, for most people who are not using these all day or around a lot of particulate sources you should be able to use these for much longer than a day.

Also note that N95 certification does not allow masks with ear loops because those are difficult to fit tightly (though you can address this problem with strap-tightener accessories (or paper clamps or tying knots). Only KN95 and uncertified masks allow ear loops.

They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I only use one at the most 4-5 in a day. Then I let it rest 3-4 days.

You can put them in a dry instant pot for 45 minutes and they are good as new.

I noticed a number of mask seller on AMZ seemed to be targeted by bogus comments for some >>gobuy<< site selling KN masks.

Looks like it'll be awhile before AMZ does anything about that, if ever.
