Recommendation for a router
Posted by: msglee

Can I get a recommendation for a router?. I haven't had wifi for a few years when my old router went up. I will be hooking it up to a 2016 21" Imac. I have a 2000 sq. ft. house, two story.

I kind of like the Netgear AX1800 router, but I'm open to suggestions.

I've always been partial to Asus. Currently using Asus RT-AC68U, replaced my RT-N66U.

Strong, solid, and I think the last time I called for support, remember being satisfied dealing with them.

Ours got hit by lightning 2 years ago and the local utility who provides internet came out. The guy told me it was fried and that the utility could sell me a TP-Link Archer C7. He said they carry these in their trucks because they're rock-solid. I was planning on buying a mesh system but I figured with the guy there it would be easier to just pay them the $100 and be done. It has been rock solid for the last 2 years. It's still for sale, but of course, in 2 years I assume there's been some advancement.

Tplink Archer A7 or C7 is a good choice and fast for $50. The A7 is a slight variation on the C7 - they are both AC1750 routers.

Thanks for the recommendations. I need to do the research and make a decision. I hope everyone had a happy holiday.
