Bose QuiteComfort Earbuds. One month in.

My ears never fit earbuds well, Apples' versions always fell out, didn't like stuff in my ears, etc. So I was always using the on-ear sport ones that either had a lanyard or a behind-the-head version that could be had for $25 for working out, etc.

Was passing through an airport a few weeks ago and saw the new Bose QuietComfort Earbuds on sale ($199 down from $280), so I went in to try them out. Stunning noise cancellation feature (considered the best by some reviewers), and more importantly, they fit really well.

Been using them daily ever since, and I like them a lot. They *refuse* to leave my ears, even with a strong head shake, because they have these silicone extra frame that wraps into the crevices nicely. A double tap changes the noise cancellation to different intensities (or fully off), and the fidelity is rich and perfect for the times I listen to music (especially when I work out in the gym or on the elliptical). Nice iPhone app, great audio cues that tell you when you change something, great charging case (magnetic click, good design).

Not everyone jives with noise cancellation, but I'm affected by external noise more than most I suspect (I can't have a decent focused conversation if there's lyrical songs being played in the background), and these things make flying on an airplane a time of peace and tranquility instead of background stressful. They're a game-changer for my brain wiring.

Really pleased with the purchase.

Just checked and they're still on the $199 sale if anyone is interested. Here's the direct link to Bose' page:

I agree. I have those bad boys too. Call quality is really good too. I have the 700's too, which I'm happy with.

Have you tried out the other sizes they come with? I just left the ones (middle size I think) that it came with. I thought my head/ears were big, but that standard size seems to work just fine. Can't believe how firmly that extra silicone "ear cage" works to keep them firmly in place.

I'm just like you. Regular earbuds generally come out if I'm chewing on something (the right one). I don't know what's up with my ear canals. These have been the best ones and you're right about that little fin. I use the middle size eartips.

I don't have problems with earbuds, but the Bose with fins really stay in well.

Thanks for the mini review

Those things look huge in the pictures, are they truly that large?

I'm glad these work for you.

The one thing that I really can't get over with all these earbuds is how they're essentially 100% ewaste in a couple years' time when the batteries grow too weak. I get that making these small compact things precludes user maintenance to change out batteries, but it would be nice to see some kind of replacement program where you can send in your old earbuds and have the batteries replaced, either to be returned to you for a modest cost or at least resold as refurbished.

Hell! I wish that was legal requirement!

OTOH, how long do corded earbuds last? 2-3 years max?

Nice. I wish I could use something like that.

I can't stand anything that goes into my ears - I get too much bone conduction noise (ie eating is loud, walking is loud). They tend to work loose after awhile too.

I do love the old Sony earbuds and wear my Apple Airpods (v2) all the time. Over the ear is good too.
