I just signed up for "free" Apple TV+ but my "old" Samsung TV doesn't have an app for Apple TV+ ( didn't have one for paramount + but got around it thru Amazon Prime). Anyone know of a workaround? No FIre, or like gizmo attached.

Old is pretty relative - it is only about 5 years old and works perfectly - not sure of the model - but reading online certain apps are only supported 2018 and later. Seems strange that it is already "obsolete"

bought a Roku stick on $10 deal late last year for a very old Sharp. Makes it a TV again.

Roku stick... Makes it a TV again effective smart streaming device.

The core issue with modern TV sets is the electronic innards that do computer-ish things like streaming video will regularly be obsoleted every 3-5 years as video quality and compression methods "improve." Fortunately, it's one effectively remedied with the latest ineffective streaming devices. But let's be clear, at no time did any of these older TVs become less effective as TVs for watching OTA television.

I don’t agree with this statement. Have you heard of ATSC 3.0, which is currently being broadcast in some test markets across the US Link

Less effective, no. But our 14yo Sharp Aquos looks like poo with OTA compared to the 3yo TCL/Roku.
