For the first time in over 42 years...

We are dogless... sad smiley

Said goodbye to our 10th dog this morning, Mimi. Inoperable liver tumor. Had been having slight issues for the last month or two, this morning refused to get up, couldn't walk, and gums were very light colored. Called vet and brought her in immediately. The vet noticed slightly yellowing of the eyes, and then the diagnosis. The vet said even with extensive surgery, recovery, chemotherapy, it would only be a few months, so we decided not to put her through that ordeal...

Post when we got her, I must have deleted the pictures. I'll see if I can find any to post of her:

She was a white German Shepherd. First picture of when 3 peacocks decided to visit our house in Long Beach, second of her in her favorite spot on the super old couch.

You can actually see the care you gave her in her eyes.

Sorry for your loss. I know how tough it is to lose a special member of the family.

Mr. Lahey: A lot of people, don’t know how to drink. They drink against the grain of the liquor. And when you drink against the grain of the liquor? You lose.

Randy: What the @#$%& are you talking about?

Very tough loss - you were her champion right up to the end … you really can't do any better as a human.

I’m so sorry for your loss. We only have them for a while, but make up for it by giving them as much love and care as we can.

Very sorry to hear, but you were kind not to put her through that ordeal. They are such perfect companions. We said goodbye to our 14 year old rescue on my birthday last year. I came this close to visiting the local shelter the other day, but knew that if I did I'd likely come home with one. Keep happy thoughts.

So sorry for you loss. Getting a pet is always setting yourself up for heartbreak!

My Natasha is about 12. We have grown grey together!

Very sad here, with my pup and I feeling a twinge. May random doggos console you, they also know (esp them) that you are a good human.

I visit in my mind with pets who have been gone for many years. They leave such a hole in our hearts.

And yeah, getting one is definitely a setup for heartbreak down the road.

Ah, but the joy they bring until then.

Sorry for your loss!

So sorry for the loss of your fur baby.
It is hard to let them cross the rainbow bridge, but it is the final best thing that we can do for them.
