Just Finished "Project Hail Mary"

by Andy Weir author of The Martian. A good bit a fun!

In May 2021, Weir's third novel, Project Hail Mary, was released. The plot revolves around an astronaut, Ryland Grace, who wakes up from a coma on a strange spacecraft and is afflicted with amnesia. Ryan Gosling is slated to produce and star as Grace in a film adaption,[23] with Lord and Miller also directing the project.

SPOILER-FULL interview: [youtu.be]

I also enjoyed his last book, Artemis.

Thanks - I loved the Martian (book - movie a little less). I'll give it a try...

Hail Mary was good. He's getting better at characterization and plot.

Did not think Artemis was good at all. By the end, I was thinking that my time could have been better spent reading other books.

Loved it.

Kept me on the treadmill longer!

I did the audiobook as well right after it came out, fun listen. I thought it was better than Artemis (which hit me as young adult sci-fi) but not as good as The Martian.

I have not listened to Artemis. I liked The Martian more than Project Hail Mary.

Just finished "Artemis." Didn't really get into it but kept reading hoping it would get better. Didn't happen. Enjoyed "Martian.' Getting ready to read "Project Hail Mary."

I truly enjoyed Project Hail Mary. I've read it three times now, and each time I find that I enjoy it even more than the last time. Let me be clear: I'm easily amused and entertained. I enjoyed Artemis as well, and, of course, The Martian. Project Hail Mary has been my favorite of all three books so far.

I'm gonna weigh in on Artemis. I think the main character was just not very likable, that might be affecting opinions of the story.

I felt the same way with Kim Stanley Robinson's Aurora.
I really did not like the main character Freya; I kept waiting for her to grow up. She never did.
