Best bit of acting from DiCaprio since Gilbert Grape (of what I've seen of his).
Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill all very good. Strong cast in general.
Cate kills it.
First 2/3 is very funny, not guffaws but funny.
Last 1/3 gets a little lost.
A few places with too many cuts.
Some weak reasons and choices for music.
Dialog is a little buried in mono.
7/10 for me.

While I personally get (and agree with) the political undertones, the problem for me with this kind of “dark comedy” is that it’s not very funny, while the satirical elements tend to muddle the theme.

But then, I also thought Parasite was a horrible movie. So, YMMV.

reminded me of Network and Dr Stranglove at times too. And a couple others I can't come up with. I think they may have been some directorial homage (25¢ word) by McKay.

Not an Ariana fan, but she was great poking fun at herself as well.
I still ain't getting her LP though. Unless it's an LP of Motörhead covers sung in the original Cumbric.

wow, 1 1/2 stars. Damn! And that from beyond the grave!
That's one bad review.

But then back in '97 he gave Titan-ick 4 stars.
Certainly a movie to leave on to keep the dog company when he's tied up outside barking at the hot poodle next door.

It is "painful funny". I could see the heavy-handed humor in the less than 30 minutes I watched, but having dealt too much with that level of stupidity recently decided to stop watching.

No, but too many of the local equivalent.

Watched it yesterday evening and was overall disappointed. Using the shotgun approach to satire is fraught with danger and in this case too many pellets missed their targets. Not that it wasn't a target rich environment with self centered and venal politicians, the media, big tech and even capitalism to aim at. Jennifer Lawrence and Cate Blanchett looked like they were having fun. The rest of the cast seemed to be making up the numbers and only there for the pay day.

I wanted it to work, I did. But it didn't.
