I had ordered an iPad thru Apple on 12/3, and Apple’s estimated delivery date was 12/30 to 1/5/22. Today I received an alert the iPad was being processed for shipment and estimated delivery was 1/25 to 1/28. WTF

I used the chat feature with Apple and they said they couldn’t cancel the order, but could send me a return label so I could return the iPad for a full refund. This was the only option, as Apple refused to upgrade from standard shipping to 2 day air at their expense. Customer service ain’t what it used to be.

FYI I found a better spec 11 inch M1 256GB iPad Pro at Microcenter in stock for $850.

I also had an iPad 10.2 ordered with Apple to arrive Jan 27.

Walked into my local Costco and they had them with prices, But they were still in the loading dock area, locked up. Bought it, and waited till they walked up with 3 cases of iPads.

And just cancelled the Apple order.

Now to look for a Black Case

The only way I can explain this is "supply chain issues" and Apple preferring their bulk volume / retail partners over direct orders from individuals. Esp. if your order was in any way "custom" from one of their stock configurations.

Check the retail channel or other distributors. It's just an iPad. Heck, even with M1 Macs these days the customization is getting pretty minimal.

If one needs something to protect it against rough treatment or water incursion, then maybe an Otterbox or similar?

That's not something I've needed to consider, so the ZUGO line is exactly what I want.

Unfortunately, I can never get the color I like as its usually sold out by the time I buy a new (but somewhat dated) iPad.

These are pricey cases compared to AMZ's usual $9 cheapies, but they wear extremely well.

If it makes you feel better they don't expedite their shipping even if you order 2300 iPads and they are late.
