From the first one, I thought the only danger might have been anybody hit by debris from the impact, and that the guy had been removed earlier.

Around here those trains move at about 79mph.

And the train dispatcher or someone within the chain of command should lose their jobs. According to the thread, the sergeant had called the emergency number and alerted Metrolink (the train operator). And yet the train still went through at full speed.

I suggest you study the physics of braking steel wheels on steel rails with a cof approaching zero.
