Replacing 27" 5K 2014 iMac -- itsg getting more and more screen artifacts/ghosting every day. Holding out for a new big iMac... but worried this one is gonna go "pop" and be gone.

Bought the 16/256 M1 posted here a week or so ago
Boot drive XPS8200PRO 1TB drive, in 10 GB/s case, 800 R/W on the USB C port.
Sabrent TB Dual NVMe case, inland Pro drives in a 4TB RAID 0. Blackmagic says 2400/2800 R/W.
Wating on a plugable 3 monitor hub. 3 screens. 27" 4K Dell + 27" 2K dell + 24" 1080
HK Soundsticks lll... setting up this weekend...

I do publishing work -- Adobe CC all day -- will see how this compares to the iMac. 32 vs 16 on ram, dedicated GPU vs none, USB 3 vs USB C boot drive

Nothing fancy, actually bought it a few months ago after getting a dell gift card. S series (budget) 27" 4K. Was originally destined to be a second screen for my iMac.

Dell has low inventory on a lot of their screens. If this mini works out, might replace it with a 32" instead... but $$$.

It may seem that way on the surface — and true for a basic user. But if you start doing a spec to spec comparison and feature options you can get with the iMac vs what you can’t get with a mini — that changes quickly.

Especially if we are talking about the 27” iMac vs mini.

5K stand-alone screen is $1000. Mid level 4K is $350. 32 GB ram? Impossible in a mini. Real GPU? Nada in a mini. 3 screens on a mini? Add $200 for a display port replicator. 4 USB C ports? Nope. Pro or Max chip? Nyet.

Since he performance of M1 is so different from old Intel systems, I’m looking forward your opinion on your rig..
Hope you can share.
Have you used the feature where you hit ctrl-arrow and go to a different desktop? It’s no substitute for another screen, but it can do the job for some people.

Add me to the list of those wanting to hear how the upgrade goes, especially in comparison to the Intel iMac.

I upgraded from the 2013 trashcan to the same Mini (except a 1T internal), and every day is a damn joy. Screenflow video editing is fast, and there is virtually no heat.

Thanks rich -- I've tried multiple desktops, but everything Im working on is in the "now" as opposed to separate things? It would be a lot of back and forth.
