Careful, I was just hacked through a Wal-Mart account

I ordered something from Wal-Mart a few years ago and just got an email that my package was arriving today. Of course, it was coming to CA and I live on the other side of the country.

Had to dispute the charge and now I'm getting a new card. Hopefully that's the last of it, but Citi still shows that charge as pending. Hmm.

Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't realize I had a saved credit card on my Wallyworld account; just went in and deleted it.

Do you reuse passwords?

Thanks! They had an AmEx that expired 3+ years ago.
To delete it, had to click on "update card" then got the option to delete.

My general practice is to use the AmEx and never use a debit card.

Yes, but I notice that trying to log in now on Wal-Mart required two factor authentication. I don't knowhow long that has been the case, but it was true for me just now.

Probably logging in Two Factor because of non use, or something financial related. I used the Walmart Site lately to purchase a PS5. And joined that WM+ to be able to do it. I click on Walmart.com and go right to wm and I am logged in.

A little off-topic, but I got an email yesterday from my wife that looked strange. It had the text "I'm forwarding this one to find out if the guys in the pic are familiar to you".

Of course I clicked on it, and it led to a page that had an advert about some snake oil that supposedly had been on Shark Tank.

She later told me she didn't send it, and when I click on the sender's address, I get "m_basilio84@terra.com.br". Ah! A message from Brazil! They fooled me.

I'm not too concerned, since it was on my phone and I'm not aware of any current malware that can infect an iPhone just by clicking a link. How they did it was pretty easy, it seems to me - if they know your email and name (not too challenging these days), they can google your name and see who you are/might be married to, then make an email account with your spouse's name, and then send you an email which will then look like it's coming from that name.

But I am a little puzzled as to the payoff here - just to get me to click on an ad? To confirm that they have my correct email address and name and it's live? The email has no attachments as far as I can see.

I had mentioned it here, someone used my reused password info (leaked in a hack) to order a box of ream paper. (WTF) I got an email thanking me for the order. Canceled it and changed my password (finally)

I just deleted mine-a current credit card and an expired one.

I wonder if Walmart is one of those places that saves cards without asking. I NEVER have them saved purposefully (except Amazon and Paypal) but occasionally they are already there when I go to a site. Either it's being done without my express permission or my NEVER may not be never.

Thanks. It just so happens I've used my Walmart.com account several times in the past month, so I just went in, deleted my cards and changed my password.

This prompted me to check my account which I think I've only used a few times and it had three credit cards stored, all expired in 2014 or earlier. Makes me wonder if somehow they were storing cards that I used in their physical stores during some period of time years ago. I can't imagine that I saved three cards from online purchases. I deleted all of them.
