First time I’ve heard of someone going back to Intel because of speed issues!

Yeah, maybe its just me expecting too much. Wife and kids have M1s, they have no problem and great for their use. Surfing is sweet...fast. although my youngest has complained about slowdowns when she has a bunch of game tabs open...
I have a busy week, might take another look this weekend.

Is Indesign M1 native or running under Rosetta?
As for hating Monterey, you will have the same problem when you eventually upgrade (to an M1 iMac or whatever).
How much of the slowdown is from Firefox? If FF is a factor, could you have bookmarks that you go to when needed and cut down the number of open tabs from the 150 you have now to maybe a couple dozen?

This setup is way out of my league. ...
Much more snappier than the old 12-core cMP.

AM seems broken on my imac, doesn't show columns. I never touch it, so don't really care. =)
