How many of you iPhone users know about "Back Tap" in iOS 14 ?

Just found out about this little feature:

'Back Tap' is an iOS 14 feature that was launched on September 16, 2020. The feature lets iPhone users turn the Apple logo on the back of their device into a secret button.

'Back Tap' is not on by default and therefore requires iOS users to set it up manually. Because 'Back Tap' is hidden deeply in 'Settings,' many users are unaware of its existence. To set up 'Back Tap' on your iPhone, first, you need to make sure your iOS system is running on 14 or later.

Next, you must head to your 'Settings' > 'Accessibility' > 'Touch' > 'Back Tap.' Once you've reached 'Back Tap,' you can decide to set up a 'Double Tap,' a 'Triple Tap,' or both. Simply tap on the option(s) you want and select from the list of shortcuts.

Both the 'Double Tap' and 'Triple Tap' options can perform an extensive list of options including 'App Switcher,' 'Camera,' 'Control Centre,' 'Lock Screen,' 'Mute,' 'Notification Centre,' 'Screenshot,' 'Siri,' and 'Spotlight.'

Is it something you all might use?

I've been using it for screen shots which I do a lot of. It's a pretty cool feature. I use the double tap not the triple.

I must have seen this somewhere and activated it but then I put on a leather case and it doesn’t respond to taps. I’m not sure I’d use it if it did work for me.

I have the flashlight feature tied to a triple back-tap.

It's sometimes useful, but inexplicably fails to work other times, and that's frustrating.

I used it for a while for screenshots, but I kept getting unplanned screenshots.

I use it, like it. There have been times when installed in my phone holder in the car it might take a screen shot. Very Rare. Better than pushing a combination of buttons for me.

And why do I make the flashlight come on , what am I hitting that makes it show up sometimes?, I certainly am not pulling down on upper right corner, and touching flashlight.

Very cool. Thanks. I had no idea it existed and didn't have high hopes for it because my phone is in a case. But I just set it up and was able to take a nice quick and easy screenshot. Excellent. Now I just have to remember I have it. smiling smiley

Cool.

I set it up for flashlight. Mine seems to come on randomly sometimes and it always takes a few steps to turn it off.

Same here.

And for some reason, activating it wasn't reliable.

That may have been me, but either way, I ended disabling it.

Knew about it, but disabled it because it wasn't being triggered when I wanted it to be, and was being triggered when I didn't. I have a fairly thick battery case though, so that's almost certainly what the problem was.

This setting does not exist on iPhone 7. iOS 14.8.1.
