Based on Ramd@d's comments, I took a leap for these headphones, and they arrived today. I am quite impressed with how comfortable they are and how good they sound. I have significant hearing loss, but they sound better than any I have used before. But then my experience with high fidelity headphones is limited. Koss Pro 4A's were about the best I ever used previously. That was a long time and a lot of jet noise ago.

That’s their image, so yes. It’s common for headphones to use a 1/8” connector and supply a 1/4” adapter.

It comes with the adapter in the photo.

I no long own any gear that has a 1/4" phone plug except an older Marantz power amp (don't remember if its the 250 o4 the 500, or both) that has a pair for speaker outputs.

The HE400SE is one of HFiMan’s low-end models and typically gets so-so reviews, relative to other planars. It would probably still sound pretty good when compared to non-planars.

You’d be better off spending a few bucks more and getting the HE400i — they get much better reviews than the 400SE.

The version of the 400i shown at that link is the original design (i.e., not the 2020 model, which I’ve read has experienced some quality issues). This is the set of cans I have and they sound amazing. That’s a great price for them, BTW.

My understanding is that the Sundara sounds AMAZING. You would just need to make sure your DAC/amp has enough power to properly drive it.

EDIT: I’ve made a couple of purchases from Headphones.com (including an iFi iDSD Signature DAC/amp scheduled to arrive Monday) — they are a great outfit to do business with. They allow returns for up to ONE YEAR after a purchase (restocking fee applies) and do not charge sales tax.
