Summer tires. Yes.

Now that we're halfway through winter and I've got my winter tires on, I am turning my obsessive self to researching summer treads.

My musts are quiet and wet road capabilities. These are for a car, btw.

Michelin Defenders.

I have those on another car that I share; not bad in rain but not the best. Quiet, though!

there isn't really a one tire is best, you need to define your priorities, and order them. for me, on my Prius, they wear well, are quiet, good mileage, and good, but not great wet weather traction.

I favor "Goodyear Assurance". Nice comfortable ride and not too pricey.

Michelin CrossClimate2; I had to replace Conti DWS06 before 30k miles, never again.

What car do you have? There's some reason to believe its good to match model of car to particular models of tire.

I like michelin pilot sport as3 plus as summer tires on my golf. Grippy, and work well enough in a light snow fall to cover shoulder seasons. There are likely better value propositions.

My BMW 230i shipped with ultra high performance runflat summer tires. Stiff and while they handled well, not that great ride quality.

I just replaced them for winter with Michelin Pilot AS-4 Plus UHP all-season tires (non-runflat), and I'm very happy. May continue to run these all year.

Another thumbs up for Michelin AS-4s, I run them year round on my GTI and have been very happy with them on wet and light snow roads. Just put Michelin CrossClimate2s on the wife’s Alltrack, they are much quieter than the Michelin AS3s they replaced.

I'm glad to hear you're happy with the Michelins you have on the GTI.
I ordered them from Costco a few days ago for my GTI, and am waiting for them to arrive. The Firestone Firehawk AS that came with my car spin, making acceleration difficult.

S. Pupp When I bought my GTI, the first owner had Firestone Firehawks on it as well. It would spin, just as you said yours does. I think you will like the AS-4s, very "grippy", significantly less wheel spin now. And that after increasing the horsepower considerably with bolt on parts and electronic tuning. I got my AS4's at Costco as well!

So, what about a spare and jack? I’ve got to replace tires on my X1 and am totally done screwing around with PIA runflats.

Love me some Michelins. I have Defender II's on the RAV/4 and they are good for plowed roads in winter.

My car was supposed to ship with non-runflats, so it came with the "BMW Mobility Kit." Essentially an air pump and Fix-A-Flat.

But supply chain issues in Germany during COVID resulted in it shipping with summer performance tires, but not the non-runflat summer performance tires I had spec'd.

Realistically, I'm resigned to calling BMW or AAA if I get a flat and can't get to a repair.

BTW, I'd love to be wrong, but all this stickiness MIGHT have reduced my fuel economy by a couple of MPG with the AS-4's.

I'm sure it does, as it affects rolling resistance, as well as tire life.
