Only registered users are allowed to vote for this poll.

I subscribe to the Times 7

I subscribe to both. 11

NONE of the above 28

Okay I am registered to the Post because someone here had a link to free 90 day trial.

Otherwise neither paper has gotten into my wallet.

So yeah, if you link to this paper I may scroll to see if someone has sourced it to a free link, or just move on to the next thread.

This question is not to crack on the legitimacy of the above mentioned journalism.

This question is to crack on how CHEAP our forum members are.

Feel free to post those that do get your financial support.

Amazon offered an on-line only discounted subscription that I've maintained. I want to make sure that journalism is supported. Are they biased? Yeah, but on the whole, the news is accurate-ish and no worse than any other option.

Read the daily local paper (with world/national news), subscribe to NYT online. I read the WSJ at the local library whenever I’m there. Apple News Plus also carries stories from a number of different news sources.

IMO, it’s very important to gets news from a variety of viewpoints. It’s not just a matter of their L/R bias, but just as importantly, which stories they choose to cover or not cover.

Agree very much with above opinions on supporting paid journalism. I don’t even like to think about how some people get their “news.”

None. I glean among the crumbs of a few free links, alternate sources and the paragraph that is offered before the SUBSCRIBE PLZ NAOW window pops up.

Neither

I use the "Bypass Firewalls" extension in FF so I can see the NYT.

I have an online WSJ subscription.

I don't read the WAPO. There's nothing worth reading there.

I'm cheaper than that--I get both free, through various accidents deep in history.

Neither of these.
But Subscriptions we do have are:

The Atlantic - Print and Digital
The Athletic
Racket (Twin Cities independent created by former City Pages Journalists)
Sunday Minneapolis Star-Tribune Print (probably includes digital, but the Mrs. hasn't logged in)
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Digital (owned by Gannet, sometimes gets me into other Gannet publications)

Have subscription to the NY Times, but for free through my connection to my former university employer.

Strangely the university library can't get the same kind of deal from the state's paper of record, Boston Globe, as it can from the Times.

Similar to JoeH, I get both free through my wife’s former university media center. Both the WSJ and the nearby big city paper are also free. We pay the standard rate for our local daily paper.

The WSJ subscription is free to students, staff, faculty and retirees through a donation from a wealthy alum who, like freeradical, thinks the Times and Post are biased.

I've got a one-year, $10 subscription to the Washington Post, but won't keep it when it expires and reverts to MSRP.

Have both NYT and WaPo with discounts. I’ll drop to just the NYT when those run out. Budget won’t support both at full price.

As of July 16, 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now available by simply dialing 988. The previous number, 1-800-273-8255, will remain active.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. Have a WP, considering a NYT ($1 a month promo) but looking to see what the library offers online for free first.

I get WaPo and the wife gets the Grey Lady. I won't subscribe to the "local" paper because it doesn't exist, and the nearest big-city regional one is too far for delivery and their site is all-but-unviewable USA Today Network dreck. I may unclench and get it someday.

The Epoch Times, cheap subscription if you don't figure in the loss of cognition that goes with it.
