I have one day to spend in downtown Charlotte, NC

What should I do? Staying at the Westin Charlotte and won't have a vehicle. I will have about 8 hours to spend before I need to catch an uber to the airport.

Top of my list right now is the Nascar hall of fame. Not a big NASCAR fan, but I like cars and the history.

Horse drawn carriage tour of the city, if they're still doing that.

The Discovery Place, if you like kids' museums - my wife and I had a ball building things with Lego there.

the closest good one is the Midwood Smokehouse, about 2 miles away from the Westin

Yes the Midwood on Central Ave. is very good, we've eaten there a couple times. My nephew lives close the NoDa(North Davidson) area, not far from Midwood. NoDa is the place to be for up and coming 35-45 year olds.

I wish I could be of more help, worked a few blocks from uptown Charlotte for 22 years but I've been gone for 13 years.

I can tell you where not to go, Statesville Blvd, Graham St., on North Tryon St. go no more than 5-6 blocks from city center.

Had to laugh at that. I've only ever passed through Charlotte, but there are many parts of the state that are really nice and would love to spend more time in (Asheville/Brevard area, Outer Banks, etc)

Charlotte traffic is doing its best to emulate Atlanta...better you don't have a vehicle.
