I did get one from SuperWarehouse.com last week.

These drives are the new USB scale based on the hysteria surrounding them. Do y'all have such an abiding need for another HDD? or one that's portable?

I saw this deal on TechBargains before it posted here--I skipped it because I just don't need the thing. I was actually proud of myself for a brief moment.

are you kidding? $30 is a decent price for a bare case. This one is full.

Agreed. At less than $40 for one of these things I could have FOUND a need for it.

But now, all I can do is not use the thing I had no need for.

There are two things that REAL MEN can never have too much of and ONE is Hard Drive Space.

Before OS X, I would say do I REALLY need more than 20 or 40GB of Drive space?

Today Hard Drives are like Floppies and Zip Drives were in OS 7 and 8. You can never have too many,

Yep, mine finally shipped too. Supposed to arrive 29th.

One can never have too many external drives; I remember my first 40 MB (not gigabyte) drive, and a friend commenting he thought it ridiculous to have so much storage for a computer.

We cain't have too much....

On a separate note, when I typed gigabyte as the large capital letters same as MB, it the B turned into a face with sunglasses!?

Figured it out: type capital b) a 'b' and right parenthesis, and it turns into face with sunglasses. I know, I should have learned this from somewhere.... but...

These drives are the new USB scale based on the hysteria surrounding them.

I'd bet that those buying the HDs, and even those who bought both the HDs and the scales, will be getting far more use out of the HDs than anybody will out of the scales.

Hey Hey!

Got my shipped email from Amazon/Ritz this morning. I wasn't really expecting them to fulfill the order after being cancelled out twice last week.

With four of these on the way, I'm feeling Ritzy! B)

kanesa, yeah, me too-- but considering that we had no way of knowing if they would fulfill the order, I'm happy to be getting anything. (I wonder if they're just choosing to take the hit on the price, since it was obviously a pricing mistake from the wholesaler...)

RAMd®d, I actually *do* get a lot of use out of my USB scale. It's great if you do a lot of buying/selling on ebay or LEM Swap List.

I'll just point out that a single 320GB external would have cost less and would be more portable. Nice stocking-stuffers though.

BTW, RAM--I understand my needs are different than others', and some would use these diminuitive drives quite a lot--I'll still stand by my 'hysteria' comment, as I think a lot of people bought simply because 'the price was too low to not buy'... I have doubts about the notion that there's any such thing as that.

One for me, one for my recent switcher bro, one for a friend, and one to grow on!

Seriously, I was conteplating replacing a 10GB that I pulled from my Ti 400 several years ago that's been running in a portable external similar to the Firefly. As you probably know, 2.5 80GB bare drives cost more.

No hysteria, just DEAL!! B)
