iPad's take good photos??? Need one (or an iPhone or iPod) for our shop.

We have a simple task at our company which involves taking photos of every product that comes in to our shop for repair and e-mailing them to customer service. The supervisor (who is leaving our company) does this with his iPhone and when he's not in someone else checks in the parts and asks for me or another office worker to take photos and e-mail them. So, we are trying to figure out a simple way for the guy/girl checking in products without their personal phone. So, I'm thinking an iPad Mini and a heavy duty case and leave it in a cabinet in the shop. This would take photos and they could e-mail them using gmail or outlook 365. But here looking for suggestions. Wondering if an iPod Touch or a iPhone without cell service would be a better option.

I'm fine with refurbished, previous generation, etc. I don't have any spare used iPhones laying around unfortunately. Thinking an iPad Mini might be nice because it might be less likely to get lost.

K.I.S.S.

Thank you for any tips.

High end guitar shop near me uses an iPad to document the condition of any guitar coming in for repair.

Seems like a good idea... minis arent super cheap, if that's a factor. Regular iPad is $200 less, which would also work fine

Depending on how critical the photos are, you might be able to get a nice iPhone 8 off swappa for under $200 in excellent condition.

Id prob go one step further and have the photos auto upload to the cloud so everyone can access without making an email. Dbox, one drive, google, etc -- they all have the option.

Which iPad are they using? I'm looking at refurbished iPhone 11 for around $419 as well. Worried the iPad might be too large. Maybe a mini would be fine... Just want to keep it simple.

Yeah, Minis are pretty pricy. Ouch. suddenly thinking an iPhone XR or 11 for $419 might be a better idea. Maybe a previous generation Mini? Photos aren't critical. Customer products are "industrial" and pretty nasty when they come in. Just need to send out e-mails with customer name and what they sent in and a date. They orginaize them up front. I am thinking uploading them to the cloud as well. I need to keep this as simple as possible because if it's to much work I will end up just doing it myself. That really isn't an option.

It was not a mini but beyond that I do not know the model.

An iPhone or an iPad would work fine for that. New the phone/pad the better the pictures will be.

Then basic iPad, $300 new. 12 mp camera, good sensor. If its just a few shots, works fine. Would think size is irrelevant unless they were doing a hundred shots a day?

Have you considered a normal camera? most all come with wifi now... again, shots go direct to the cloud.

Caution - only the iPad mini and iPad Pro have flashes on the rear camera. No regular iPads or iPadAir’s have a rear flash. In low light situation, you want a flash.

I’m pretty sure all iPhones have a rear flash.

I'll make ya a heckuva a deal on an iP5s....

But more seriously, what about something older and phablet-like with a good camera, that you could probably pick up for a song; no dance needed... a relatively huge ZTE Blade Z max from 2017/18, has a 16MP camera to go w/ its impressively large display. There are plenty of other similar phablets. Go back to an ancient Galaxy Mega 6.3" w/ its 8MP camera. Good luck.
