I noticed a posting on Slickdeals for LOCK LACES for Boots, then discovered there was a similar product for athletic shoes. They have a 4.7 star rating. Anyone using anything similar that you would recommend?

I'm using some silicone strips that go from one eye to the opposite eye.



I don't recommend them.

Very difficult to thread, and it takes some experimenting to get the tension just right.

Too much and the shoes are just plain too tight.

Too little and the shoes are too loose.

I threaded every pair of eyelets, using eight or so strips — too tight.

Then I tried every other pair — better, but not great.

Finally I left three upper pair empty, and threaded the very uppermost pair of eyelets to keep the show tight around the heel.

Not bad, but still not spot one.

Those Lock Laces look worth checking out.

Salomon shoes have those type of stretchy lock laces.
They work pretty well.

I've got Lock Laces on my jogging shoes. They're good.

Consider buying two sets. It's easy to trim them too short on the 1st try.

...Just checked my order history. I've had them for nearly 5 years. Might be time for new joggers.

I think I'd be more inclined to spend the $10 on laces than $130 on sneakers with the step- feature.

I used something similar on my work boots, which I wear a lot, and they started to stretch too much (and fray, but the sharp eyelets were prob responsible for that).

I put some stretchy ones on my sneakers, just leave them tied. I can't step in, but it's pretty quick and easy. Might buy them again.

I'm sure they're fine, but I question whether they are really any easier or faster. My cycling shoes have laces that are similar to those lock laces. They're great, but the advantages are that the laces don't flail around or come untied, and they are a thin corded material that's seems very durable.

But getting them sufficiently tight is kind of like tightening a bow on gift. Not saying it's difficult, but I woudn't assume people with poor dexterity would find it easier. Not to brag, but while I cannot tie my shoes one-handed like Ombiglo, I'm pretty darn fast.

I haven't had to tighten the Lock Laces on my joggers since I first put them on.
