I've never read a good survey text for the study of philosophy

Can anyone recommend a decent, and not 2000 page, edition? Thanks.

I used Bertrand Russell’s History of Western Philosophy in high school for my class and enjoyed it. But there are two problems with it: it is only Western philosophy and it was written in 1945.

It is 800 pages but an easy read, as proven by the fact that I was in high school and English is not my first language.
