How to restore some movies from iTunes

I need help with what I thought should have been an easy thing to do.

I accidentally deleted some movies from my iTunes and I have an up to date Time Machine backups.

The set up:
Mac mini (Mid 2010) running Sierra 10.12.6
iTunes 12.8.2.3

Yeah, this is old stuff but it works nicely as my media station.

The movies were in the Home Videos section of iTunes and I’m not sure how to find those files. I thought I understood how TM worked and have occasionally used it in the past but I’m stumped.

Thanks in advance.

Look for <user name>Music>iTunes>iTunes Media>Movies.

I get as far as the iTunes Media folder and then it directs me to an empty folder called Automatically add to iTunes.

I think my iTunes library has an odd way of dealing with some movies. The ones I have purchased are in Movies but then there’s the bulk of my movies in Home Videos which is sort of a separate section under genres.

Try a search for “iTunes Media”. It is possible that you were using an iTunes Library other than the default setup.

It is also possible that your files were not added to the iTunes Media folder when they were added to iTunes. ( not the default behavior, but can be set that way in iTunes prefs.)

Try searching for the names of some of those movies. They might possibly found in (user name)>Movies.

Thanks for your help but I’m still led to an empty folder. I lost some movies A thru E and I may have found some of them in another folder which I can add to iTunes. I think Time Machine let me down. It works for other files just not my admittedly very old version of iTunes.

Try using EasyFind to search.

It's found files for me that Cmd-F couldn't, even when in the Libraries.

If it can't find what you're looking for, it may not be on the drive.
