Ever have a dream that leaves feeling lingering during the day?
Posted by: pRICE cUBE

Had one where I had my camera bag stolen and didn’t have gear to take pictures for a client. In my waking hours, I am still feeling panic and anxiety about it all. The feelings persisted throughout most of the day. Interesting how the brain works.

Yep. The ones I hate are when I get mad at someone in a dream and then I feel a little residual anger at them when I wake up, even though they have done nothing. It is weird.

Yes. It comes in waves, like it happens several days in a month then goes away for awhile.

I have this persistent nightmare...and then I wake up, tune in the news and find it's true.

I had a dream a while ago with Salma Hayek...and Scarlett Johansson. That left me with a lingering feeling...

I usually have no memory of my dreams.

When I do, the half-life on it is very short.

Yup, had a nasty dream last night. Started with being unable to find an unflavored ice cube, which turned into my shirt being stained, which turned into, well, I'll just say that I usually wear my clothes instead of carrying them around, and I can usually find a private place to put them on....

I have dreams about feeling lingerie during the day.

On occasion inhabited by the people ztirffritz mentioned.

My wife gets these dreams. Unfortunately, I'm usually the person she is angry with the following day.

I think that was the subplot of a Friends episode where Phoebe was angry with Ross in a dream and it carried over to her waking hours.

It is what it is.

Yeah, I once had a coworker who had dreamed I’d yelled at her and she thought it was very unfair (in her dream). She told me about it, and I sensed she was still irked at me.

For me, it was like, it was just a dream, and YOU were the one who dreamed it. Don’t blame me!

I had a dream that I still remember vividly after more than a year. It's pretty long too.

I was cruising on I-75 near my hometown of Flint, MI in my classic '62 Willys Jeep approaching Miller Rd. Exit going North. I suddenly had a feeling that I couldn't maintain my speed or lane and *POW* I was hit with a missile or a catastrophic failure with my Jeep and started cartwheeling about 15 times.

When the smoke cleared, I was standing there with what remained of my jeep, a big hunk of metal. I told myself the authorities would be here soon and I had better get this hunk of steel off the highway before someone crashed into it.

I moved what was left of the Jeep to the side of the road and sat down on the embankment waiting for help. Suddenly I heard sirens above the embankment and people yelling from up there. Then, about 20 SWAT team members were rappelling down the hill, all yelling hut-hut-hut and I thought to myself, these guys should be able to just WALK down the hill without being so dramatic.

All 20 of them ran up to me and one at a time screamed in my face, you alright? You alright? I kept nodding yes until they stopped. Just then, an old, old, OLD ambulance stopped and out came a nurse dressed in a 40's era nursing outfit complete with cape, and holding a clipboard. She yelled out a few orders and she seemed in charge. I was placed in the ambulance even after telling them I was fine, no injuries whatsoever.

I was taken to a building and they left me in a conference room filled with people in lab coats, street clothes, and with some looking like they just got out of bed. I'm standing there and one of the guys sitting, (with clipboard, they ALL had clipboards) asking me a question. There were loudspeakers in every corner, and when he asked the question, a distortion sound came out of the speakers. Of course, I couldn't hear the question, so I said "What?" and the guy looked at me pissed off and started writing on his clipboard.

This was repeated several times with others in the room with the same result. When asked a question, distortion would drown them out. I kept saying "What?"

Then, the nurse from the scene of the accident entered the room. She definitely was in charge and was writing on her clipboard as I was trying to answer the questions. She asked for everyones attention and the room got quiet. I thought to myself, It's going to be a long time before I can get back home with the way these people were acting. I was very apprehensive!

Then, I woke up! It took me a minute to get my bearings and I was breathing hard and my heart was racing. I was glad to be in my bed and it was only a dream.

Most dreams I forget after a short while. This one is still vivid after more than a year.

Oh, I was feverish with an illness at the time. It may had a lot to do with that dream! smiley-shocked003

Yup... Not often, though.

There was a dream I had in JUNIOR HIGH that I remembered for years. (Yes, there was a girl in it, but no, it wasn't that kind of dream... )

Also, I've learned not to eat "moldy" cheeses near bed time. For some reason, it makes for very vivid dreams - not always good ones. I've read I'm not the only one so effected by cheeses in the "blue" family.

For years after college, I had the you've got an exam you forgot about "dream" (nightmare). Gawd, I'd wake up in a cold sweat.

Mine was a variation: I show up for the final, but never went to class or studied.

Also showing up for marching band performance but never went to any practice.

I still have that dream. Sometimes it's High School, sometimes College, sometimes Medical School. Usually I have not been to class all semester and it's time for the final exam.

The dream I've always had takes it one step further:

There is one class I need to graduate that I never completed. I signed up for the course many times but, semester after semester, year after year, simply failed to attend.

I still occasionally have the dream, but in recent years I have been able to remind myself during the dream that I have, in fact, already graduated and thus must be having a dream.

It is what it is.

I worked in restaurants for several years and sometimes have restaurant dreams; classic ‘stress’ dreams.

The last time, in my dream, I had just been hired at this fancy restaurant but had forgotten that I had been put on the schedule. I arrived late, and everyone in the place was really mad at me, and I was way behind.

My other variation is being asked to sit in for a guitarist in a band for a major performance (the exact person varies). I don't play guitar (or any instrument) and have no idea how I'm going to be able to fake-it for the performance.

An inadequacy dream with rock star aspirations. I like it!
