F/U on friend who OD’ed on water

He had high blood pressure of 186/120. His nurse friend said drinking a lot of water “might bring it down.” He said he drank about two gallons during the day.

Unless you're working outside in 100 degree heat, 2 gallons is too much... I mean, obviously, since he got water intoxication.. I guess what I mean to say is, "yikes! I hope he recovers OK!".

yikes! 2 gallons in a day takes some real commitment too. A buddy would pound water until he sloshed before they went out on patrol, but they sweated it out throughout the day. And they had energy bars loaded with electrolytes for this sort of thing.

A suggestion of hydralazine or clonidine would have been the professional thing to do.

He seems to be. This happened last fall. I don’t know about his blood pressure problem.
