Getting ready for a little trip, so I used Image Capture to move 427 images into a folder on MacBook Desktop folder. Then I deleted them...

But on iPhone I still see Recents 14, Dropbox 0 , favorites 0, Pic Collage 0, People 3, Places 264, From My Mac T&L Wedding 269

Where are these images coming from to the iPhone. And how can I make them disappear, so I can start on this vacation with a fresh empty camera folder?

PHotos not checked on MacBook for syncing.Buy went to finder. Looked at what was syncing from MacBook, and unchecked what I didnt want to see, and now that folder is gone...

maybe a great time to start an iCloud backup. 50 GB @ 99¢/mo and you do nothing... just turn it on and let it run.

Full phone backup with everything. Lose, drop, break your iPhone, restoring from iCloud is like it never even happened...

Is the goal to save space? Are you out of space? or just backup?

There are other options for automatic photo upload to the cloud for safekeeping...

Can you pay the 50gb a month annually? I cleared out all monthly intravenous taps into my bank account and I can't see where they would allow me to do that.

iCloud was the only way I ever figured out for getting photos from iPhone to Mac. Of course, I have to remember to go download them in batches a few times a year, and they arrive as a ZIP file and have lost their individual file creation date & times. So then I have to figure out how to have Graphic Converter recreate those based on the EXIF data.

I sure wish I could figure out some easier way. I see people posting on Twitter or wherever photos that they just took a few minutes earlier, while I feel like I'm still in 1978, waiting until next Tuesday to get my prints back from Fotomat.

There are many ways, and it will vary depending on system versions:
Airdrop, the image capture app, that 30 day camera roll thingie…
What issues are you encountering?

Use Image Capture on your Mac. Connect your phone via a cable to the Mac, then launch Image Capture.

I think you can, but I have no firsthand experience.
There is Apple Pay, and AppleID balance. The first one can use most CCs, the Apple Card and Apple Cash, and the latter uses iTunes Cards from any convenience store.

Check the various settings according to my first link.

^Not sure where to find any settings on the Mac. AirDrop doesn't seem to be in System Preferences. AirDrop shows up in the Finder sidebar, but then what? Get Info produces nothing.

When you open airdrop, make sure settings are "allow me to be discovered by: xxxx" and choose the appropriate option.

Still unsure why you want the photos off the phone... unless you are totally out of storage?

beating a dead horse... iCloud. Its the first thing I did with all our iPhones. Teenagers take TONS of photos. Family iCloud has them safe.

To be able to make any use of the photos: make prints, email them to friends, put them in a PowerPoint, print them in publications, put them on websites. To file them in the appropriate folder. My phone is now my only camera. Surely that's not unusual nowadays.

Please review the various recommendations in my first link and make sure your setup complies with each.

^Have done. Doesn't seem to discuss desktop Macs at all.
