......this has been going on for years......these are just the latest examples of shrinking sizes....Gatorade.....Cottonelle (basically 1 less roll in each package), Doritos, Sunmaid raisins, Chobani yogurt, etc.....

......As inflation rises, consumers are getting less bang for their buck across all kinds of industries, but in some cases they’re also getting less of the product they paid for. NBC’s senior consumer investigative correspondent Vicky Nguyen joins TODAY to explain the trend, called shrinkflation, and how to spot it.....

this is LINK to video.....on 'The Today Show' dated May 5th......?!

I can no longer get a gallon of bleach.
I can no longer buy a gallon of my favorite apple juice.
My "no frills, no scent" bar soap used to come in a 3 pack, now it's a 2 pack for the same price.
I could swear that my jars of peanut butter have shrunk as well, but, I can't be sure.

It's annoying... particularly when a recipe calls for an "X" oz package of something, and you find out it only comes in "X-2" oz packages now.

...for decades.

There are so many products that have had this done to over the years. Toilet paper, a roll is a bit narrower than it was 40 years ago, and what they often sell these days as a "double roll" contains about the same as a roll did back then. Your "quart" of spaghetti sauce was once 32 oz, now down to 24 oz the last time I actually checked.

I still recall how they partially concealed the reduction in size of the half gallon containers of orange juice. The package went from 64 oz to 59, was almost the same height with more air space than before. The excuse put out was it was now "metrified" at 1.75 l, the next reduction in volume left that in the dust.

The cardboard tube in the TP roll is bigger now, in addition to the sheet count and sheet size being gradually reduced. People notice price more than the other stuff. Has been going on since the 80s, if not longer.

Andy Rooney started complaining about the downsizing of a one pound can of coffee back in the late 1980's.

look how long the spring tube is in the TP dispenser in the bathroom. That is one HUGE clue. Oddly, paper towel rolls have stayed the same width.

BJ's still sells Breyer's ice cream in an actual half gallon container. Most retail locations it is down to a quart and a half.
