The data is collected by the agency and it’s based on applications for Social Security cards.

Among names for boys, Amiri, Eliam, Colter, Ozzy and Loyal showed the largest improvement in the popularity scale; while Raya, Wrenley, Angelique, Vida and Emberlynn topped the list of “fastest rising” names for girls.

I'm sure. If we'd had a girl, she'd have been Charlotte. Great name.

And ya can call her Charlie if ya want.

My wife wanted to call our son Liam, but I vetoed it. We're both engineers, and we had a very geeky way to decide his name. We both came up with a list of names, and we narrowed it down to four that we were both ok with. We then came up with all the combinations of first and middle names from the list. We decided to wait until he was born before we decided. I honestly didn't have a "favorite" going in, and neither did she. About two hours after he was born, she said she had decided on her favorite and so had I. And they were both the same!

If he had been a girl, my wife had already decided on a name long before we got married. I wouldn't have had a choice. Thankfully we didn't have to cross that bridge. My dad was pushing hard to name her after my mom who had passed away two years earlier.

Where is John or David? At least James and William made it.

We couldn’t come up with either a first, middle or even last name for our son for nine months after he was born. We just called him, “The dude.” We never did give him a middle name. He got his mother’s primary last name. In our state you can change a child’s name until they are eight just by going to the county and reregistering a different name.

Actually, the one that surprises me is Olivia. Its derivation is from "olive", to me, not a particularly appealing name (nor is Oliver, the male equivalent, which I see is #3 for the boys). It seems like, for the girls at least, there's a trend toward the "old-fashioned" names.

Looks like “Adolf” continues to poll low, so at least there is still that…

That’s a big improvement over 15 or so years ago.
