Musk misses the mark - Twitter deal on hold

Seems he may not have anticipated that the cost of acquisition would crash Tesla stock price and maybe send him into the bond market. The decline of his crypto venture probably didn't help.

Elon Musk said his $44 billion bid to purchase Twitter was “temporarily on hold” until he could get more details to confirm that spam and fake accounts represent less than 5 percent of the social network’s total users

Also, several governments are looking into his ties with the Saudis after it was revealed that he was getting much of the funding from Alwaleed bin Talal.

But let's just say it's about the fake accounts.

Musk is clueless enough to think that people will believe the fake account bs.

The bot excuse is as real as Musk’s current hair.

The only thing I know for sure about this whole Twitter fiasco was that from the outset it was not well thought out and planned. This particular issue/risk was pointed out by my brother and a couple of other Tesla fans right from the beginning (strangely people like Rob Maurer and Dave Lee remained silent on it).

Musk is awesome. Anything that strikes fear into the snowflakes is a positive development.

I have a friend who was nearly bald in the 1990s. Now, with chemicals and other strategies, he has almost a full head of hair.

It's unfair to Musk, but at this point the first phrase that appeared in my mind was "Stable Genius."

“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in."

Jumping on the bandwagon there chopper? Was not long ago you guys hated him for believing in climate change and and building EV’s. Hey, if this is what it takes for you to embrace both, then jump on board!

He’s way too impulsive for his own good. He let that ‘richest man in the world’ go to his heads.

What worries me is he’s not usually impulsive when it comes to strategic business decisions. The fact that he was so with Twitter is concerning. I fear this may be hubris that comes from lack of any major failure so far, and the invincibility (seemingly) that results from it.

However this turns out I can’t help but feel there is a train wreck in the cards for this guy in the future.

Having watched Musk for a long while, this Twitter fiasco is really his first misstep. Hope it’s not a sign of things to come.

Hmmm, he has others like having a buyer for $420.

That’s more like a short term tactical mistake. Not something long-term and strategic that posed a significant risk of derailing all his other efforts. Put it to you this way, when that happened and Tesla’s stock was plunging, I was buying, and had no doubt about Tesla‘s future.
