EVERY time I print something on my ancient Canon MF4350 aio it prints whatever it is that I'm wanting to print, then throws out an extra page and beeps telling me there is an error. I can't do anything until I 'clear' this error.

The little screen asks, "Use current size?" <yes or no>"

if I choose yes, it prints again, throws out an extra blank sheet and again asks if I want to use the current size. If I select 'no' then it will just sit there - still not able to do anything until I cancel the existing print job.

So far, I've pulled and replaced the toner cart. I've cleaned everythingn that I can see that look like it would be moving the paper along its path (not much really) and I updated the driver (this old thing just had new drivers released last month)

non of these steps made any changes - this is mildly annoying and I was taking this hot sunday to see if I could finally fix it. I can't.

Anyone got any ideas? Searching the net shows that I'm not the only one with this problem and canon isn't the only printer.

Might be something to do with how the margins are set up in the printer

We've had a couple of aging printers over the years wherein the pickup rollers and/or other goodies in the paper path caused the extra blank sheet thingy. Cleaning and/or replacing rollers and paper path was our friend. Something to try if you ensure all your print settings are correct, and it's still spewing blanks.

I found a yt link describing removing and cleaning rollers - that will be the next attempt...

I have the exact same printer and problem.
I ran a "cleaner sheet" thru it (alcohol soaked linenish paper).
A little better for a pass or 2.
In was thinking of diving into the rollers, but there a lot of junk on the way there. The large format tape machines I used to service had less to the take apart.
Mine is nearly 15 yo and I paid $150 for it.
Though I don't want to add to the estack, if I have to do more quantity printing than I do now, I'd replace.
I'm sure I can some other thing to drive me nuts.
But if you find your way in and out hal, lemme know.

no, that's not it... even when selecting to print one and only one specific page, I still get an extra. I was really hoping that adding brand new drivers and removing the old ones would do it...

I'm running 10.14.6 on this imac... haven't connected to a newer computer or os. might try that too, but I'm done for the day. Two NHL GM7s await...

I've tried from my MP3,1 High Sierra and MM Big Sur.
Tried earlier drivers too, just for s & g. From what I've read, it's the rollers have lost their get up and go mojo.

I even curse at it for several minutes. Nothing.
It's almost like it doesn't care.

But 15 years at $10/yr. What a rip!

HP P2055 - Same thing. Rollers and sensor issues. I cleaned the rollers, then replaced them. No good.

Found out it was a sensor, that was way beyond worth pulling apart the entire printer to the bare bones.

New printer!
