Here I am, being stupid

I am out by my pool, nikon d750, Tamron 150-600 lens on a tripod, trying to capture the lunar eclipse. I gotta crank up the iso so high that detail is lost. Taking time lapse photos does not work as my tripod ain’t that good. Slight shake with the shutter actuation. Ahhh, but it’s fun! If I get anything, I’ll post it. Most likely all will be blurry.

Add weight to tripod? Hang full milk jug from it with string/rope?

I will say, the eclipse looks pretty cool, just with the naked eye.

Of course, as has been the case for many sky events this year, we couldn't see it due to cloud cover. Now this morning the skies are clearing. Whoopie. cursing smiley

You need to turn off any lens stabilization your camera might have if you use a tripod and either use a remote shutter trigger or the camera delayed shutter timer in order to get an image that’s not blurred.

Too cloudy by me to get any photos last night but here’s one from a while back shot with my SX50 and a cheap $60 tripod:

Raining here. BUT-even tho the eclipsing Moon is darker than a full Moon, you still shouldn't have to use really high ISO settings.

It should not have been too hard to shoot it. Here is an eclipse I shot in 2017. I used an ISO setting of 200 and had an exposure f.6.5 @ 1/250th with my Canon SX50:

I used a tripod and I used the Timer set for 2 second delay so that pushing the shutter button won't shake the camera. Also, you can lock up your mirror to prevent the shake.

Yeah, that would prevent getting a picture!
