Do you have a favorite Nissan Z?

My gawd that is a lovely vehicle.
400 HP, $40K.

I almost named this one "No Fake Grilles" as that maw up front is all open (except where the Bumper is behind the grille)!

I do love that Katana looking metal strip on the roofline.

Do you have a favorite Z?

I love the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, and this is reminiscent to me. I like it!

When I bought my sports car in the early 80's (Because what newly minted engineer doesn't go a bit nuts ? ) , I looked at a 280Z. The salesman was SUCH a jerk to my 20 something self, I bought a Fiat Spyder. And I really really regretted it.

nice colors too.
though there are no head on shots of the rear, I suspect it's curved ugly.

Z is a porker, at least 500 lbs heavier than BRZ/GR86. Granted it has a lot more horsepower, but still…

Correction: At least 700 lbs heavier. Yikes.

Should have gotten an RX7, then your engineering brain could have contemplated the wonders of failing rotor seals and miserable MPGs.

All the Zs in these parts rusted out after a short time on our roads, not uncommon for cars in the 70s. but the Japanese cars even into the 80s shared that unfortunate tendency.

the guy, CEO perhaps?, what does a lot of the chatter has watched too many star trek eps, jobs keynotes and Victorian supernature shows.

While I get the modern search for aerodynamics, it takes away too much from sexy. It's nice, but almost any late 50s, 60's, early 70s sports car is sexier.

They should have had Zagato do the body.

Still, if someone drops one at the front door and I can fold my 6' self into it, I'll give you all a ride to the grocery.

The 2023 Z is 100 lbs heavier than the 2022 Supra, yeah a bit of a porker. I do like the new Z styling a little better. I still think the Supra looks like it has an overbite.

Isn't the Supra just a rebadged BMW? Or was it the BMW was a rebadged Toyota?

2nd generation Z was the 260Z.

The Z car has a choice of a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic. No choice on the Supra - only automatic.

The article states that the Supra added a manual transmission option this year.

The "traditional" Supra engine has legendary status in the tuner community, not sure how this one will fare.

Wow, that’s not appealing. I love the Supra, too. But an 86 is much more realistic. Too bad I need a pickup.

My all-time fave is the original 240, but the lines on the latest one are appealing. Simple, clean, graceful, no gimmickry in the body work that made it look as if the stylists didn't have enough to do.

It's their 2JZ, but I guess they don't make it any longer so they used the bimmer I6

The mid-nineties 300ZX (Z32) was a beautiful car, much better looking than the new Z IMHO. On the other hand, the new Z is gorgeous compared to the grotesquely overstyled Supra. I think the GR86 is a beauty, but that agricultural Subaru engine (and the crappy gas mileage) is a major turnoff.

Your previous post referred to the "traditional" Supra engine - this is it. Pretty sure more Supras were sold with this engine than any other.

Supra has been an inline 6 for about... forever.

It's a BMW Z4 with different styling, not a supra with a BMW engine. Car and Driver comparison test
